KATIA'S GUIDE TO SRI LANKA

Arguably one of the Indian Ocean’s most magnetic stretches of coastline, Sri Lanka’s south coast has long cultivated a reputation as a refuge for surfers, creatives, barefoot travellers, and slow wanderers alike.

A coastline of salt-faded towns, swaying palms, hidden coves, and long sandy beaches, the south offers an eclectic mix of everything - from morning surf breaks and jungle-framed villas to bustling local markets, hidden boutiques and world-class cuisine.

Spend a day exploring Hiriketiya, a small horseshoe-shaped bay known for its laid-back surf culture and jungle-framed coastline. Dine at award-winning Raa, an intimate spot tucked amongst the greenery, before stopping by Mond for sunset drinks overlooking the water. If time allows, make the short trip to Odin's in Mirissa for panoramic views from Coconut Tree Hill.

Stay a while at a beautifully designed boutique tucked amongst the palms, The Find.

Co-owned by Australian photographer & entrepreneur Myles Pritchard, The Find balances relaxed coastal living with thoughtful interiors & incredible food. Also, Citra in Ahangama is a must-visit for a nearby culinary experience.

Take a day trip to Galle Fort - a UNESCO World Heritage Site layered with rich history. Think cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, hidden courtyards & boutiques tucked inside the fort walls.

Stop at Wild & Sage along the way for tea and cake, then settle in at The Bungalow for lunch. A heritage-inspired space in the heart of Galle Fort with beautiful interiors and an equally beautiful menu.

Afterwards. wander over to The Fort Printers, also in Galle Fort. A historic boutique hotel perfect for a slow evening drink within the fort walls before heading home.
